The richness of the derivational morphology of Old English makes this language an appropriate target for the study of word-formation recursivity. Whereas the processes of affixation at this stage of the language have been a relevant subject of study, they have not been approached from a general and unified perspective. Rather, prefixation and suffixation have been observed separately, and in most cases they have not been the real focus of study, as the tendency has been to analyze affixes individually. This paper aims at offering a global view of the derivational word-formation processes by observing the interrelation established between prefield and postfield affixation, the similarities and divergences between both processes, and the combinatory possibilities between affixes.
