ABSTRACT |
This
paper reports on a current effort at creating a small-sized
bi-directional English-Spanish corpus for the purposes of contrastive
grammar learning and translation training which can be accessed through
the Virtual Campus of the Universidad Complutense. The motivation is the
distinction between what is “scientifically interesting” from what is
“pedagogically useful”. The paper
discusses the design criteria, the architecture and the web access and
management of such a corpus,
which
may be pedagogically useful for a variety of learners of English and
Spanish language and linguistics. It also
outlines an example of an exploitation activity in the context of the
contrastive grammar classroom.
