ABSTRACT |
The main concern of this paper is to analyse the imported novels
translated into Castilian included in Corpus 0 TRACEni (1962-1969) in
order to determine the particularities of external censorship. The
reception of narrative texts in the sixties was undoubtedly affected by
this type of constraint. Reducing the scope of our study exclusively to
those novels which contain some cases of external censorship and, by
means of observing the content of several censorship files as well as
following the study of some authors, we have been able to classify the
different types of corrections made on a number of analysed novels
according to the criteria which guided the censors. Although there are
no explicit laws to apply censorship in literary texts, we have
concluded that the criteria enumerated in this paper are very closely
related to the moral principles which ruled Spain in the years
concerned.
