APPROACHING CULTURES THROUGH ENGLISH is an attempt to represent the
interaction of peoples and culture, by contrasting the diversity of cultures in English-speaking communities expressed in the English language. The forty-two essays contained in it deal with multicultural issues, questions of identity, historical and literary perspectives of cultural topics, aspects of language and culture in the classroom, stereotypes, self-images, and underlying values in different English-speaking communities around the globe. Diversity is also represented in the authors themselves since they live, work and study in very varied contexts, a fact which enables the reader to appreciate different viewpoints, according to each author‚s origin and experience.
