El libro Family Reflections: Representing the Contemporary American Family in the Arts, editado por Carmen Flys Junquera y Maurice A. Lee, es fruto de un seminario y un proyecto de investigación de la Universidad de Alcalá y esta financiado por el Instituto Universitario de Investigación en Estudios Norteamericanos (IUIEN). En el se encuentran numerosas reflexiones e interpretaciones de la familia norteamericana en las últimas décadas del siglo veinte, realizadas por una veintena de autores, mayoritariamente españoles y norteamericanos. Hoy en día se habla mucho de los valores de la familia y su crisis, hay múltiples estudios sociológicos, pero relativamente poco análisis sobre las representaciones artísticas de la familia que tanto influyen en nuestras actitudes y percepciones. Este volumen pretende cubrir parcialmente ese vacío. El libro contiene artículos sobre retratos familiares en cine y televisión y sobre sus representaciones literarias. Se analizan diversos tipos de familia y las relaciones entre sus miembros. Así mismo, el volumen contiene varios textos literarios originales, relatos, ensayos y poemas con reflexiones personales acerca de la familia.
